I had the opportunity to play the recently reopened Rams Hill Golf Club in Borrego Springs just a couple months ago. I wrote a pretty detailed review then, so there’s no need to go too far with this write-up. To read my previous review, click here.
I played there again yesterday with a big Greenskeeper.org group, who all made their way out to the middle of nowhere to enjoy a fun round on this beautiful course. We even had a member make a hole-in-one on the 5th hole, so the day was extra special for that player!
Otherwise, the course conditions at Rams Hill continue to be at the stellar level they’ve been at since reopening late last year. You just don’t get much better than it is out there. My one minor quibble is that the greens were a bit too firm and extremely difficult to hold. They also put out some really tough pin placements for us, which added even more challenge on and around these tricky green complexes. Still, when putts rolled as quick and true as they did, it’s hard to complain, and it’s probably as close as us normal people get to tour-style green conditions.
Really, I don’t have anything more to say. I did take a ton of new pictures and the crystal clear sky resulted in some views I wasn’t able to fully enjoy last time on a cloudy morning after a big storm.
Here are some new pictures to enjoy (3/28/15):
