Well, you’ve seen my final 18 holes based on my design criteria. And, as you can tell from my lengthy “Honorable Mentions” list, there were a lot of great holes that didn’t quite make the cut. So I wanted to highlight some of the extra holes here. I came up with 18 additional holes I... Continue Reading →
Centrally Located for Great Golf in the Southland
I’ve never been a huge fan of golf in Orange County. Sure, there are some great courses , but they are always way overpriced (especially on weekends when I play most). There are a few good deals to be found on the local munis, but those are WAY too overcrowded on weekends! So even though... Continue Reading →
Designing My “Dream” Par-3 Course (Part 2: The Back Nine)
Last week, I shared with you the front nine for my “dream” par-3 course (just scroll down the page in case you missed it). The list was compiled based on a variety of reasons. To recap the rules, here are some of the basic criteria: It has to be a hole I’ve played. No single... Continue Reading →
Designing My “Dream” Par-3 Course (Part 1: The Front Nine)
I was watching a special on the Golf Channel the other night. It featured the “best” moments in the history of the famous 17th island green at the TPC Sawgrass PLAYERS Stadium course. Happy New Year, everyone! 2011 was a great year for me when it came to golf. I really rediscovered my love for the game, got back on my 50 states goal and was able to play some truly incredible courses. Since August, I was able to play more than 20 courses I’ve never played before... Continue Reading →
Twas the Season for Great Golf
I usually don’t play too much golf during Christmas time, especially when I’m spending the holidays up in Northen California in my hometown. Usually this time of year, it’s pouring down rain 24/7. But this year, plenty of sunshine was in the forecast. The temperatures were lower than normal without any precipitation, but the forecasts... Continue Reading →
Yep. I was definitely at Bandon Dunes. Played Old Macdonald today. Quite an adventure, to say the least. Crazy course, indeed.
Season’s greetings from Pebble Beach, CA. Just finished the most enjoyable round of golf in my life at The Links at Spanish Bay. Basically had the course to myself this morning on a picture perfect day. Incredible!
